The Gift of Music

My babies started music class at 5 weeks old, and it became a wonderful way to share the gift of music with them and other family members.  Over the years of Music Together, all four grandparents, as well as my husband and me, were able to attend classes.  Music is still such a part of our lives.  We sing, dance, and play tunes all the time in our home.  My daughter has started sharing her gift of music at church, playing bells in the praise team.  She can play pretty much any song she hears by ear.  We marvel at how both of my kids can sing, keep a beat, and stay in tune.  Their early exposure certainly helped!

New adventures
Date: 09/24/2007
We’ve had some exciting adventures in recent weeks. Our family took our first trip away from home. We couldn’t believe how much we needed to pack for just one night away. Megan, Ryan, Mama, Granna, and Grampa filled a van with stuff! Daddy took his own car, which was also pretty full.

We traveled to Long Beach Island for Phil and Christina’s wedding, where Daddy was the best man. Friday night Megan and Ryan met Phil and Christina before the rehearsal dinner, and Granna and Grampa stayed with them while Mama and Daddy had a real “date” for the rehearsal. On Saturday the twins explored LBI before heading back to central NJ with Granna and Grampa for the night. Mama and Daddy had a hard time saying goodbye, but we were able to enjoy the wedding and reception sans babies. Granna and Grampa admitted that though they liked staying with Megan and Ryan, “raising twins is for the young.”

This past weekend Uncle Matt came for a visit from California. He brought special stuffed animals for his niece and nephew. Megan loves “riding” her blue elephant, and Ryan enjoys lying on his yellow doggy. While Matt was here, we took a walk in the park to practice for the Light the Night walk that is coming up in a few weeks. Unfortunately, the babies also started fighting colds – Mama and Daddy nicely shared their own sickness with their kids! At least they will build up some immunities, and they are handling being sick very well.

In other exciting news - Megan and Ryan started music class, where they met other mamas and their babies. We have ten weeks of class scheduled to sing, dance, and learn rhythms.

  1. I think that Matt actually went with you to music class, too! I'm pretty sure I found pictures of it when I was doing his book. Such great memories this post evoked! Thanks.
