In the days before Facebook... we posted on YouTube!

I had to smile reading this post from ten years ago and glimpsing one of their first moments of co-play.  My kiddos play so well together now, typically engrossing themselves together in an activity after dinner or during weekend free time.  This past week we've seen them build a carnival-type game and a fort; they made their youth pastor and their grandmother HUMONGOUS birthday cards.  They build, they create, they play.  And they get along beautifully... for now.

I'm sure we will have moments where Megan wants to (will) hit her brother in the head!

All smiles

We are ten weeks old, and we can officially report that both twins have figured out the smiling thing. And they are radiant! Surprisingly, both Ryan and Megan enjoy our morning routine of singing and changing. (I say surprisingly because their Daddy is NOT a morning person.) I usually get ten minutes worth of precious smiles from them each morning. The animals on their mobiles often earn smiles from them at night as they "talk to the animals" with their baby coos.

Ryan is learning to grasp small objects and shake them. At music class yesterday he managed to hold and swing a rather large rattle. Megan is a little less adept, but she is learning. She is much more agile with her fist, and she controls it well. She and Ryan played with a doll together this morning, and while Ryan grasped at the attached toys, Megan kept punching it over.

Today the three of us went to the park, where we sat under a tree (until Mama realized that acorns were falling sporadically to the ground around us). While we were there, Megan attempted to play with her brother - she kept hitting him in the head - but Ryan was much more interested in the world of the park.

Both are now sleeping quietly in their cribs (thank goodness). Yes, we have moved the babies into their cribs. Both are enjoying the roomy new digs, and the transition has been seamless. Nearly every night we find Megan on an angle (she only turns clockwise), but other than that, they have taken to a bedtime routine and been good about entertaining themselves to sleep. Megan has been waking for two to three night feedings, and Ryan has been a little more difficult to wean with about 4 feedings per night. Since we are letting them sleep now on individual night schedules, it has been pretty tiresome for Mama, who hasn't slept much more than an hour and a half at a time for over a week. We are hoping both babies learn to sleep a little longer at night in the near future.

I do have some videos of the babies on Youtube. However, two issues exist -

1. If you do not have DSL or a cable modem, it will be virtually impossible for you to download them.

2. I have them set to private, so you must have a YouTube account and be my friend in order to see them.

That being said, if you would like to see the videos, let me know your youtube username, and I will add you to the viewing list.
